Somali Pres. Denies Talks Between His Gov't, Al-Shabaab Militias

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, July 2 (KUNA) -- Somalia's President Hassan sheikh Mahmoud said that there were no negotiations between the federal government and Al-Shabab militias, Somali National News Agency (SONNA) reported on Tuesday.
The statement came during a speech delivered by President Sheikh Mahmoud on the occasion of the 64th anniversary of Somalia's independence.
The Somali President's statement came after reports circulated about a plan by the Somali government to hold negotiations with Al-Shabab militias. (end)
