Abu Dhabi presents Family Entrepreneurial Business Index in collaboration with UAE University

(MENAFN) On Monday, the Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi signed an agreement with the United Arab Emirates University to launch the Abu Dhabi Family Business Index, marking a first-of-its-kind initiative in the region. This innovative index aims to measure the performance and influence of family businesses within the emirate, offering a comprehensive assessment of various indicators related to their activities. According to an Emirati news agency, there is also potential for the index to expand its scope to encompass family businesses across the region and globally.

The Abu Dhabi Family Business Index is designed to provide detailed information and performance indicators on family businesses, including revenues, the sectors in which these companies operate, career opportunities they create, and their management structures. Additionally, the index will track gender representation in leadership positions, succession planning for the next generation, the circulation of leadership roles, and contributions to economic and social development.

The Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi, in partnership with the UAE University, is considering the inclusion of additional criteria such as intergenerational business transfer, innovation, benefits from entrepreneurship and sustainability practices, and the overall social impact of family businesses. This holistic approach aims to paint a detailed picture of the operational dynamics and societal contributions of these enterprises.

The new index will serve as a vital tool for investors, policymakers, academics, and other stakeholders by providing a thorough understanding of the role and impact of family businesses. With access to accurate and up-to-date information, these groups will be better equipped to make informed decisions and develop strategies that are aligned with the evolving landscape of family-owned enterprises in Abu Dhabi and beyond.
