Canada To Provide Another $5M For Humanitarian Mine Action In Ukraine

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Canada will allocate another $5 million to U.S. firm Tetra Tech for humanitarian demining in Ukraine.

According to an Ukrinform correspondent, Assistant Deputy Minister at Global Affairs Canada Alexandre Leveque said this during the Ukraine Recovery conference in Berlin on Wednesday, June 12.

"I am happy to announce today that Canada will make further contributions and an additional $5 million to Tetra Tech, bringing our contribution to this U.S.-led initiative to $12.5 million," he said.

Leveque also announced that the Canadian prime minister would also make new announcements about assistance to Ukraine in the coming days, notably in the field of humanitarian demining.

The official recalled that Canada had been involved in demining efforts in Ukraine since 2015.

"The total investment that was made between 2015 and up to the full-scale Russian invasion was about 80 million dollars," he said.
