White House claims Biden doesn’t wish for WWIII

(MENAFN) In the midst of escalating tensions between the United States and Russia over Ukraine, the White House has reiterated President Joe Biden's stance on preventing a global war. John Kirby, the White House national security spokesman, emphasized that Biden does not seek confrontation with Russia and is committed to averting a scenario that could lead to World War III.

Kirby's statements come in the wake of the White House's confirmation that Biden authorized Ukraine to utilize United States-supplied weapons for offensive operations within Russian territory. The decision followed a request from Ukraine for greater flexibility in using foreign arms after Russian forces intensified their offensive in Ukraine's eastern Kharkov Region, seizing control of several border villages.

Addressing concerns about potential escalation, Kirby stressed that the Biden administration has been vigilant since the outset of the conflict and remains wary of further destabilization. He reiterated that Biden comprehends the gravity of permitting Kiev to employ American weaponry for defensive purposes, emphasizing that Ukrainian forces are authorized to target specific military installations utilized by Russian troops.

However, Kirby clarified that certain restrictions remain in place, emphasizing that the ban on utilizing certain types of missiles or conducting long-range strikes within Russia has not been lifted. This clarification comes amid reports suggesting that Ukraine has been employing such weapons to target areas including Crimea, Donbass, Zaporozhye, and Kherson, which Russia considers part of its territory following recent annexations.

The ongoing tensions highlight the complexities of the Ukraine-Russia conflict and the delicate balance of power in the region. As diplomatic efforts continue to navigate this precarious situation, Biden's commitment to avoiding a broader conflict underscores the importance of maintaining stability and preventing further escalation in the region.
