Zelensky, Kishida Discuss Global Peace Summit, Support For Ukraine


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) In a phone call, Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida has assured President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky of Japan's unwavering support for Ukraine.

The relevant statement was made by the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine on facebook , an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The Embassy mentioned that Prime Minister Kishida had condemned Russian attacks on different regions of Ukraine and explained how the aid from Japan is being delivered, including via the NATO Trust Fund.

The Prime Minister also assured the Ukrainian side that Japan will continue using its G7 Presidency, in particular, for a dialogue with the countries of the Global South and the Indo-Pacific Region.

The two leaders agreed to continue working together.

Following the phone call, President Zelensky mentioned that he had invited Japan to participate in the preparation of the Global Peace Summit.

“We appreciate the G7 declaration on security guarantees for Ukraine adopted during the Japanese Presidency. It is time to conclude relevant bilateral agreements in the framework of this declaration. We are ready to start this negotiation process with Japan as soon as possible,” Zelensky wrote.

The President of Ukraine told the Prime Minister of Japan about Ukraine's efforts to extend the Grain Corridor, in particular by creating alternative routes.

“Ukraine is ready to continue to act as a guarantor of global food security,” Zelensky stressed.

Additionally, the two leaders discussed the preparations for the Ukraine Recovery Conference scheduled to take place in Japan early next year, and coordinated steps on the eve of important international legal events.
