Blinken: Washington expresses concerns regarding Wagner ion Africa

(MENAFN) Washington does not think that Moscow or even Evgeny Prigozhin's Wagner Group were linked to the army revolution in Niger, however, is nonetheless worried that the African country could come under Russian effect, United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken has sated.

In a meeting with the news agency on Tuesday, he confessed that the United States is mainly concerned regarding Wagner “possibly manifesting itself” in portions of the Sahel area.

Blinken stated that “I think what happened, and what continues to happen in Niger was not instigated by Russia or by Wagner, but... they tried to take advantage of it.”

He continued to blame the Wagner assembly of making only distress wherever it goes and also stated that "insecurity has gone up, not down" in nations it has went to.

Blinken's declaration made following press statements recommended that Niger’s recent army administration had been regarding inviting the Wagner assembly into the nation to aid in protecting their influence and discourage external interferences.
