Russia foils Ukrainian drone strikes on Moscow, Crimea 9 years ago
(MENAFN) Russia said on Monday that it foiled Ukrainian drone strikes on Moscow as well as the Crimean Peninsula, that it seized in 9 years ago.
The Defense Ministry noted in its first announcement “by means of electronic warfare, two Ukrainian UAVs (over Moscow) were jammed and crashed,” noting that no one died.
The assault on a couple of non-residential buildings occurred about 4 AM (0100GMT), according to Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin on Telegram. “There were no serious damages or casualties. All emergency services are on site,” he also said.
According to the ministry, the military also foiled another Ukrainian drone strike in Crimea overnight.
"Fourteen Ukrainian UAVs were suppressed by electronic warfare, of which 11 drones crashed in the Black Sea, and three more fell on the territory of the peninsula," the declaration stated.
Three additional drones were shot down by air defense systems, according to the report.
As reported by Sergey Aksyonov, Crimea's Russian-installed chief, the drones attacked a munitions storage in the Dzhankoi area.
