Opec To Hold 8Th Seminar On Global Energy Status


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) VIENNA, July 5 (KUNA) -- The 8th OPEC International energyseminar is due to kick off later on Wednesday -- themed "towards a sustainable and inclusive energy transition" -- with participation of the Kuwaiti Minister of Oil Saad Al-Barrak.
Its agenda focuses on energy security, technological innovations, environmental issues, sustainable development and trends of the global economy.
The two-day forum involves OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al-Ghais and ministers of the organization member states, including the State of Kuwait, executives of energy institutions and companies, academics and experts.
Al-Ghais and Equatorial Guinean Energy Minister Antonio Ondo are due to inaugurate the gathering with speeches focusing on current global energy status and forecast for the vital field.
The first ministerial session groups the energy ministers of Equatorial Guinea, Azerbaijan, Nigeria and the UAE, who will address issues such market stability and energy security.
The second one will involve the Kuwait Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Oil and the Minister of State for Economic and Investment Affairs, Dr. Saad Al-Barrak, in addition to his peers from Iraq, Libya and Iran. The participants will address financing and strategies.
In addition to these sessions, three round table discussions will be held with participation of experts to shed light on energy sustainability, challenges and innovations. (end)
