Saudi Arabia Summons Sweden's Envoy To Protest Quran Burning

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RIYADH, July 2 (KUNA) -- The Saudi Foreign Ministry on Sunday summoned Sweden's envoy to Riyadh, informing her that the Kingdom unequivocal rejects the burning of a copy of the Quran by an extremist outside a mosque in the Swedish capital, Stockholm.
In a press statement, the ministry said called for a halt to any act that runs counter to the international efforts to promote values of tolerance and moderation.
On Thursday, the ministry condemned the Quran burning, stressing that "these hateful and repeated acts cannot be accepted with any justification, as they clearly incite hatred, exclusion, and racism, and directly contradict international efforts seeking to spread the values of tolerance, moderation, and rejection of extremism, and undermine the necessary mutual respect for relations between peoples and states".
