Eight Children Injured, 1 Adult In Knife Attack In French Alpine Town


(MENAFN- Khaama Press) Eight young children and an adult have been injured in a knife attack in Annecy, a town in the French Alps; French police told Reuters on Thursday.

According to the police, the kids were around three years old.

According to the national police, one adult and two children, both under three, had severe injuries.

According to the local police, two adults were hospitalised together for treatment after being hurt. No other information about the victim was provided, and the difference in the proportion of adult victims was not readily explained.

Gerald Darmanin, the French Interior Minister, said on Twitter that the attacker had been detained.

According to BFM TV, the attack occurred in a park, and the attacker was a Syrian refugee.
French President Emmanuel Macron described the assault as an“attack of absolute cowardice.” Of the victims, he said,“Children and an adult are between life and death.”
“The nation is in shock,” Macron tweeted.
