Iran's Active Participation in SCO, BRICS Highlights Failure of Isolation Policy

(MENAFN) Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, has stated that Iran's active participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the BRICS group of nations demonstrates the failure of attempts to isolate Iran. In an interview with Press TV, Amir Abdollahian highlighted the significance of Iran's engagement with these regional and international organizations, emphasizing that it reflects the country's determination to resist isolation.

During his visit to Cape Town, South Africa, where he attended a foreign ministerial meeting of BRICS, Amir Abdollahian held talks with his counterparts from various countries, including Brazil, India, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. These discussions provided an opportunity for Iran to showcase its commitment to engagement and cooperation on a global scale.

BRICS, consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, represents a significant economic bloc of emerging nations. Iran, recognizing the potential benefits of joining this group, has expressed its interest in becoming a member. Amir Abdollahian's presence at the BRICS meeting and Iran's active pursuit of membership further highlight Iran's determination to assert its presence and play a role in shaping international affairs.

Amir Abdollahian emphasized that Iran's involvement in the SCO, the Eurasian Economic Union, and now in BRICS, sends a clear message that the global policy of isolating Iran has failed. He emphasized that countries and alliances act based on their own interests, and Iran's message is resolute: the Islamic Republic of Iran cannot be isolated or sidelined.

The Foreign Minister's remarks underscore Iran's ongoing efforts to forge partnerships and expand its international relationships. By actively participating in regional and global organizations, Iran seeks to demonstrate its importance, assert its position on the global stage, and pursue its national interests within the framework of mutually beneficial cooperation.
