Geneva: Minister of Public Health and Chairman of the Executive Board of the World Health Organization, HE Dr Hanan Mohamed Al-Kuwari met in Geneva with Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization.
During the meeting, they discussed the most prominent decisions of the meetings of the Executive Council of the World Health Organization at its 153rd session, and the World Health Assembly at its 76th session, which concluded recently in Geneva, and work to accelerate the achievement of the goals of the World Health Organization and promote health and wellness for all.
The meeting also discussed aspects of cooperation between Qatar and the World Health Organization in various health fields, and future priorities in the Sports for Health partnership that was signed in October 2021 for a period of three years between the Ministry of Public Health in Qatar, the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, the World Health Organization and FIFA to make the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 a model for future major sporting events to be healthy and safe.
The Executive Council of the World Health Organization elected, on May 31, 2023, Qatar, represented by HE Dr. Hanan Muhammad Al-Kuwari, Minister of Public Health, as Chairman of the Council in its 153rd session for a year.
