Saudi, Iranian Fms Meet On Bilateral Ties


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RIYADH, June 2 (KUNA) -- Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah met with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Cape Town, South Africa, on Friday on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting of Friends of BRICS Group.
They explored ways to enhance the bilateral relations in various fields, and reviewed the steps to implement the agreement between the two countries signed in Beijing, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Both sides also discussed ways to ensure peace and security on regional and international scales.
They expressed a shared desire to intensify consultations on the prospects bilateral and multilateral cooperation in a way that serves the interests of the two countries, according to the SPA report.
The meeting was attended by the Undersecretary of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Multiple International Affairs Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rassi, the Saudi Ambassador to South Africa Sultan Al-Luyhan Al-Anqari, and the Director General of Foreign Minister's Office Abdulrahman Al-Dawood.
The Friends of BRICS ministerial meeting opened on Thursday with 12 countries taking part, including Saudi Arabia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt. (end)
