(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, May 26 (KUNA) -- Oman has mediated a deal between Iran and Belgium for swapping Iranians and Belgians detained in the two countries.
The Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Friday that the mediation efforts were in response to orders by Sultan Haitham bin Tariq to respond to pleas by the Iranian and Belgian governments to settle the case.
The released detainees were transported to Oman today pending their travel to their countries. (end)
