(MENAFN- Khaama Press) Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian stressed that establishing an inclusive government in Afghanistan is required to recognize the current regime.
“We do not recognize the incumbent ruling body of Afghanistan, and we emphasize the necessity of forming an inclusive government in the country because the Taliban is one part of the reality of Afghanistan, not all of it,” Amir Abdollahian said.
The minister urged the Taliban to form an inclusive administration during a meeting with Seyed Hassan Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic.
He also pointed out the two neighbouring countries' water rights and border conflicts. He continued by saying that the issue should be resolved within the framework of legal actions.
“We have told Afghan authorities that the issue of [Iran's] share of water cannot be resolved through a mere political statement and should be pursued within the framework of legal measures,” he added, Tasnim News Agency reported.
The foreign Minister of Iran also said there is no other way than“interaction between the two neighbouring countries.”
However, he reiterated that Iran has not recognized the nature of the current ruling power and called for an inclusive government, saying,“The Taliban is part of the reality of Afghanistan, not all of it.”
Earlier, Iranian officials urged the de facto authorities to consider the water treaty of Helmand River signed between the two countries in 1973.
On the other hand, the Taliban authorities reiterated the water treaty and said they are committed to the 1973 agreement, signed half a century ago.
