(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Egypt's Minister of Environment, Yasmine Fouad; and Chairman of the Organizing Committee and National Coordinator of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, Hisham Badr; discussed the latest developments of the national initiative after the launch of the second round of it, and its implementation mechanism.
During the meeting, Fouad said that following the launch of the second round of the national initiative for smart green projects last April, it became necessary for the Ministry of Environment and the coordinating committee of the initiative to spread awareness of what smart green projects are within the governorates so that investors can apply for the competition.
She also appealed to citizens to submit projects that maintain the environment and takes into account environmental sustainability standards through the website to find smart solutions to societal problems using clean technology, and the importance of working together to maintain the momentum that was made at the governorate level last year.
The Minister of Environment indicated her desire to define and present the green projects initiative during Egypt's celebration of World Environment Day on the 5th of June, which will be celebrated this year by visiting each of the winning governorates for a week to present the success stories of these governorates.
For his part, Badr said that the continuation of the initiative for the second edition is a positive sign of its importance. He added that this initiative contributed to building trained cadres on how to evaluate projects, as more than 6,200 projects from different governorates participated in the first phase, and 18 projects were selected.
