Elon Musk Selects Former NBCUniversal Executive Linda Yaccarino as CEO of Twitter

(MENAFN) Elon Musk, in a tweet on Friday, announced that Linda Yaccarino, former head of advertising at NBCUniversal, will replace him as CEO of Twitter. Musk clarified that Yaccarino's primary focus will be on business operations while he shifts his attention towards product design and new technology. Yaccarino responded to Musk's announcement on Twitter, expressing her excitement to work with him and help bring his vision to Twitter. Since the announcement, Yaccarino has gained a significant number of new followers, now nearing 400,000 on the platform.

Musk's decision to find a successor came after he tweeted on Thursday that he had identified someone new to lead Twitter, with a start date in approximately six weeks. Having completed the acquisition of Twitter for $44 billion last fall, Musk will transition to the roles of executive chairman and chief technology officer at the social media platform. Following Musk's announcement, NBCUniversal also confirmed Yaccarino's departure from the company, effective immediately.

In response to Yaccarino's departure, Comcast President Mike Cavanagh expressed gratitude for her leadership in NBCUniversal's Advertising Sales business, acknowledging the innovative team and platform she had built. Yaccarino, who had been with Comcast NBCUniversal for twelve years, expressed her honor to have been part of the company and to have led an incredible team. She credited her colleagues and mentors, including Brian Roberts, Mike Cavanagh, and the entire NBCU leadership team, for their support and the accomplishments they achieved together.
