Britain Supplies Ukraine With Formidable Missiles

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) LONDON, May 11 (KUNA) -- The United Kingdom has supplied Ukraine with long-range Storm Shadow missiles, Secretary of State for Defense Ben Wallace announced on Thursday.
Wallace, addressing parliament, said the 300-km-long range missiles will enable the Ukrainian forces to resist Russian forces deployed on Ukrainian territories.
Britain's delivery of the formidable rockets is seen as part of the preparations for the much trumpeted Ukrainian counter attack planned to push the Russian forces out of the Ukrainian territories.
British politicians and experts have expressed concern that deployment of such long range missiles might lead to expanding scope of the war.
The missiles are unleashed by fighter jets. If flying at high altitude, pilots can evade surface-to air missiles and ground gunfire.
Last January, London declared equipping the Ukrainian forces with 14 Challenger-2 tanks. (end)
