Pars Special Economic Energy Zone in Bushehr Province Boosts Iran's Export Value by 31 Percent

(MENAFN) According to Ali Soleymani, an official with the Customs Department in Iran's southwestern Bushehr province, the value of exports from the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone (PSEEZ) increased by 31 percent in the past Iranian calendar year 1401, which ended on March 20. The PSEEZ exported 22.77 million tons of products worth 12.152 billion, indicating a 12 percent growth in weight compared to the previous year.

Soleymani noted that the PSEEZ was responsible for the highest amount of exports from Bushehr province in 1401, accounting for 83 percent of the weight and 91 percent of the total value of exports in the province. The PSEEZ was established in 1998 to utilize South Pars oil and gas resources and promote commercial activities in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries in southern Iran.

Located in the port city of Assaluyeh, the PSEEZ is home to several petrochemical complexes that receive gas and gas condensate feedstock from the giant South Pars gas field, which Iran shares with Qatar in the Persian Gulf. The zone has become the hub of Iran's exports of major non-oil commodities, including gas condensate and petrochemicals.

The growth of exports from the PSEEZ is significant as it contributes to Iran's economy, particularly in the face of sanctions that hamper its oil exports. By diversifying its exports and promoting its non-oil industries, Iran can mitigate the impact of sanctions and boost its economy. The PSEEZ plays a crucial role in this strategy, showcasing the potential of Iran's petrochemical industry and its ability to attract foreign investment.
