(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, March 30 (KUNA) -- Washington announced Thursday it will be providing USD 22.9 billion in direct aid to the Ukrainian government through USAID and the World Bank's Peace mechanism.
A press briefing explained the aid provided meets Ukraine's wartime needs capacitating them to lay down the groundwork for a successful recovery, noting the funds would also be helping the government of Ukraine in functioning its basic public services such as health care, education, emergency responses, and supply basic needs.
The State Department's USAID also added, the USD 22.9 billion will be to facilitate a successful recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine's civil society in providing economic assistance divulged informs of humanitarian aid (USD 1.9 billion) to meet urgent needs, while also bolstering the energy grid's developments (USD 870 million), in addition to agriculture, small businesses, and government institutions.
The US has provided USD 400 million in winter-related assistance during the height of the season, to include energy repair equipment, power generators, heating support units, humanitarian supplies, "With more assistance on the way", as international donors are stimulated thanks to continued US assistance, to including the European Commission, Japan, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
