China, Honduras Sign joint communique in Beijing to Grow Respect, One-China Principle

(MENAFN) China and Honduras have signed a joint communique in Beijing, officially establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries. The communique was signed by Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang and Honduran Foreign Minister Eduardo Reina after they held talks. The People's Republic of China and the Republic of Honduras have recognized each other and will establish diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level, effective from the date of signature of this communique.

According to the communique, the two governments agree to develop friendly relations between the two countries based on the principles of mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, mutual non-aggression, non-interference in each other's internal affairs, equality, mutual benefit, and peaceful coexistence. The government of the Republic of Honduras recognizes that there is only one China in the world, and the government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China. Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory.

The government of the Republic of Honduras shall sever "diplomatic relations" with Taiwan and will no longer develop any official relations or official exchanges with Taiwan. The government of the People's Republic of China appreciates this position of the government of the Republic of Honduras. When holding talks with Reina, Qin noted that the one-China principle is a prevailing consensus in the international community and a widely recognized basic norm in international relations.

In recognizing the one-China principle, Honduras has made an important decision to join the mainstream of the world, which is in full accordance with the fundamental and long-term interests of Honduras and its people. This is also a choice to stand on the right side of history and the side of the vast majority of countries, as Qin pointed out. China highly appreciates Honduras' clear attitude and firm determination to establish diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Honduras is a significant milestone for both countries. It marks a new era of cooperation based on mutual respect and cooperation in various fields, including trade, investment, and cultural exchange. The move is also a testament to China's growing global influence and its commitment to promoting peaceful relations with countries around the world. As China continues to expand its diplomatic ties, partnerships with countries like Honduras will be essential in achieving its goals and promoting global cooperation.
