Doha: Sidra Medicine, which provides girls and women in Qatar with a wide range of tertiary healthcare choices – is set to expand and create more awareness about its services available for different conditions.
Services related to women's aesthetic surgery, minimally invasive surgeries, fibroid management, endometriosis, and others are to be expanded this year.
The hospital also expects to promote its uniquely designed VIP and VVIP services, said the chair of women's services at Sidra Medicine Dr. Johnny Awwad.
“Sidra Medicine is equipped with the right teams, technologies, and systems to support girls and women through this journey of treatment, wellness, and healing. As we thrive to become a centre of excellence, we are also planning to expand some of our services,” Dr. Awwad told The Peninsula.
“One of the services that we are focusing on, is our elite VIP and VVIP services where female patients can get exclusive facilities throughout their stay at our hospital,” he added.
Sidra Medicine has expanded gynaecology surgery services to cover a wide range of gynaecological conditions.
Surgical expertise include minimally invasive surgery and robotic gynaecology (e.g., robotic myomectomy, laparoscopic hysterectomy); urogynaecology and pelvic floor reconstruction (e.g., pelvic organ prolapse surgeries, urinary incontinence slings) other laparoscopic gynaecology (e.g., laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy) and operative hysteroscopies (e.g., hysteroscopic myomectomy, endometrial ablation.
“We are also putting a key focus on our Fibroid Centre. In Qatar, the management of women suffering from uterine fibroids is still a cause for concern, as women are often unaware of alternative therapies available. We have therapies and options that are less invasive; which is particularly in the case of uterine preservation. Many women, still travel abroad either for a second opinion or to undergo minimally invasive surgeries,” said Dr. Awwad.
“Our team of gynaecologists works closely with our pharmacists and imaging teams to provide women with the best medical or surgical management options available. The service provides women with an individualised approach to the management of their fibroids. These include robotic myomectomy, uterine artery embolization, and high-intensity focused ultrasound,” he said.
Sidra Medicine has expanded its aesthetic surgery and medicine clinic. The private-based service offers breast consultation, face surgeries, body sculpting, and aesthetic medicine treatments. The clinic is headed by renowned Plastic, Aesthetic, and Reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Chiara Botti.
“These services are offered to promote a sense of well-being in women and all procedures are conducted based on scientific-based findings,” said Dr. Awwad.
