Southern Turkiye Hit By 5.3 Magnitude Quake


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISTANBUL, March 23 (KUNA) -- A 5.3 Magnitude earthquake shook province of Kahramanmaras, southern Turkiye.
The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) stated that the earthquake occurred seven meters below surface level and its epicenter is in city of Gokcen.
On February 6, two violent earthquakes, measuring 7.7 and 7.6 on Richter scale, hit southern Turkiye and northern Syria followed by thousands of aftershocks leaving in their wake major losses in lives and property.
According to World Bank, United Nations, European Union and Turkish government estimates, material damages exceed USD 100 billion. (end)
