(MENAFN- Omnesmedia) Doha, Qatar – March 21, 2023: The Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development hosted the “TEDinArabic” summit at the Qatar National Convention Centre that brought together a diverse audience from across the Arab world. Among the event's distinguished speakers was Mohammed Al-Shaker, founder of "ArabiaWeather" and "MeteoWeather," the leading Arab Group in Climate Technology who was selected as an inspiring individual in the Arab world due to his pioneering efforts in creating Arab artificial intelligence software that helps to combat climate change in countries around the globe, with a particular focus on the Arab region.
During his speech at the event, Al-Shaker highlighting the important role that technology can play in addressing climate challenges in the region. Al Shaker’s discussion highlighted the value of smart early warning systems and response plans which play a crucial role in minimizing the impact of any climate related crisis that might arise.
Mohammed Al-Shaker emphasized that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, along with other countries in the Gulf region and the Arab world, are highly affected by the impact of climate change. Examples of the impact included heavy rains, torrential storms, and sand and dust storms. such changes indicate an urgent need for smart climate technological solutions that can enhance climate safety and increase the ability of governments and institutions to adapt to the changing climate building on recent launched climate initiatives in the Arab World.
During his speech, Mohammed Al-Shaker highlighted the significance of the term "climate adaptation," which he explained was a relatively new concept. Climate adaptation refers to the ability of people and organizations to deal with extreme weather conditions through the development of early warning systems that minimize human and material loss due to climate crises. Al-Shaker added “Climate change is a reality we live, and there is a need for an immediate solution, this immediate solution is called Climate adaptation”.
Mohammed Al-Shaker presented an innovative early warning systems developed by his company, the ArabiaWeather and MeteoWeather Group. These systems, which are among the first of their kind in the world, have been developed for use in a range of sectors, including government, navigation, agriculture, and the sustainability of production chains. The systems have been widely adopted in the Gulf countries, where they have been instrumental in enhancing climate safety and reducing the impact of natural disasters. Al-Shaker noted that his company is committed to expanding the use of these programs to other countries around the world.
In his concluding remarks at the "TEDinArabic" summit, Mohammed Al-Shaker shared a saying of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), which he quoted as follows: "If the Hour comes and one of you has a sapling in his hand, and if he is able not to rise until he plants it, let him plant it." Al-Shaker used this saying to emphasize the importance of taking immediate action in the fields of climate technology, environmental preservation, and sustainable development
