According to officials, they detained 30 people amid tear gas shelling after someone opened fire from the roof of the building.
However, the operation took place when Khan was travelling to Islamabad for a court appearance in a corruption case, an official from his part said.
During the operation, at least ten workers from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf were injured, and over 30 were arrested, news agency PTI reported.
Meanwhile, a video was shared on his party's official Twitter account showing Khan's supporters at his home arrested by the police.

In a no-confidence vote in Parliament in April of last year, Mr Khan, now in the Opposition, was ousted. He is accused of hiding assets and selling state gifts while in office.
The 70-year-old leader of the Opposition has also asserted that Shehbaz Sharif, his successor, and the US government conspired to remove him from office. Washington and Mr Sharif's government have refuted the accusations.
