Turkey’s daily electricity usage increases by 1.3 percent on March 14


(MENAFN) According to official data from the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS), electricity consumption in Turkey increased by 1.3 percent on Tuesday compared to the previous day, reaching a total of 887,463 megawatts per hours. The peak hourly power consumption was recorded at 42,616 megawatts per hours at 12 p.m. regional time, while the lowest consumption was at 29,814 megawatts per hours at 5 a.m. regional time.

The production of electricity on Tuesday amounted to 872,535 megawatts per hours, which was a 1 percent increase compared to Monday. The electricity generated from natural gas plants contributed 24.3 percent of the total generation, while imported coal and lignite plants contributed 21 percent and 11.9 percent, correspondingly.

In terms of trade, Turkey exported 4,405 megawatt-hours of electricity on Tuesday and imported 19,333 megawatts per hours. These figures demonstrate the country's continuing efforts to balance its energy needs and maintain a stable electricity grid.
