Ukraine to become main green hydrogen exporter

(MENAFN) Ukraine is set to become a significant exporter of green or low-carbon hydrogen, along with its derivatives, such as green ammonia and green methanol. This was emphasized by Yaroslav Demchenkov, the Deputy Minister of Energy, who highlighted Ukraine's enormous energy potential that can contribute to Europe's energy security. He urged European businesses to collaborate with Ukraine and invest in the country's energy sector.

Demchenkov underlined the need to create conditions that would enable most of the value addition to remain in Ukraine. In this regard, he called for the support of green technology partners and affordable financing. The Deputy Minister believes that Ukraine's potential as an exporter of carbon-free electricity and green hydrogen can bring about long-term economic benefits and energy security for both Ukraine and Europe.

Recently, Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko urged French businesses to invest in Ukraine's energy sector. It is an opportunity for France to strengthen its energy security by diversifying its energy supplies and reducing dependence on traditional fossil fuels. The Ukrainian government is also keen to attract foreign investors to develop and modernize its energy infrastructure. This, in turn, will enable the country to realize its potential as a major green energy exporter in the region.

As the world moves towards cleaner energy sources, Ukraine's potential to produce green hydrogen and its derivatives can help meet the increasing demand for sustainable energy. Its vast renewable energy potential, coupled with the availability of resources, makes it an attractive destination for businesses seeking to invest in green technologies. With the right support and investments, Ukraine can emerge as a leading player in the global green energy market, contributing significantly to Europe's energy security and decarbonization goals.
