DOHA: The Qatar Fund for Development, in cooperation with Qatar Red Crescent and Qatar Charity, has successfully delivered 108 tonnes of urgent aid onboard three planes to quake-hit Turkiye and Syria today, February 8. The relief aid was transported via the Qatari Emiri Air Force air bridge.

The Qatari air bridge is an implementation of the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani's directive to provide all necessary support to Turkiye and Syria in mitigating the effects of the earthquake which so far has claimed over 12,000 lives, with rescuers continuously working to save survivors trapped under debris in freezing weather.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar's air bridge will include:

- 120 personnel, 12 vehicles, and integrated equipment to support search and rescue operations

- 3 field hospitals, and an integrated first aid medical team

- Humanitarian aid, food, and winter clothes

- Family tents and medical aid

Qatar has also allocated 10, 000 mobile homes for those affected by the earthquake in both Turkiye and Syria.

Moreover, the Qatari international search and rescue group of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) arrived at Adana airport in Turkey yesterday, February 7, and has started the search and rescue operations, in coordination with the Turkish local authorities, in the earthquake-affected areas in southern Turkey.
