UK Prime Minister announces mini-reshuffle of Cabinet

(MENAFN) Tuesday, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak presented a mini-Cabinet change in an effort to repair the Conservative Party's damaged reputation as a result of scandals, including the tax evasion of former chair Nadhim Zahawi.

In an effort to spur economic growth and reduce reliance on foreign energy sources, Sunak established four new Cabinet departments.

The modifications "will guarantee the relevant teams and abilities are focused on the Prime Minister's five promises: to develop the economy, slash waiting lines, decrease debt, and half inflation," according to a statement.

The departments of commerce and culture are being reorganized into four ministries, with a primary focus on energy security, science, business, trade culture, and media.

"The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero will focus on giving the UK cheaper, cleaner, more secure sources of energy – cutting bills, cutting emissions, and cutting our dependence on international energy supplies, like those of Putin’s Russia," Sunak shared on Twitter.

"The government needs to reflect the priorities of the British people and be designed to deliver for them," he added.
