BPS Claim QCA Inter-School Girls' Title

Doha: The Qatar Cricket Association (QCA) recently organised the QCA Inter-School Girls' Tournament as part of development pathway to promote grassroots level and for empowerment of women and their involvement in sports.

The invitational tournament had 12 teams from 10 different schools. It was held from January 23 to February 2, 2023 at the Education City Grounds at Qatar Foundation.

The teams of schools which took part in the tournament included Birla Public School (BPS), Bright Future Internationals School, Pakistan International School, Stafford Sri Lankan School, Al Khor CBSC, Al Khor International, Nobel international School, MES Indian School, DPS Modern International School, and The Next Generation School.

The final was played between Birla Public School and Pakistan International School and where BPS emerged as the champions.

QCA President Sheikh Abdulaziz Saoud Al Thani said:“The tournament showed a lot of cricketing talent and officials of the Qatar Cricket Association have identified some players. These selected players will be inducted in training camps for further coaching and will be given an opportunity to play in the upcoming domestic tournaments. This will help develop our bench strength.”

Pakistan International School: 69 for 6 (in 10 overs) lost to Birla Public School 70 for 1 (in 7.3 overs) by 9 wkts. Player of the tournament: Amara Khalid (Bright Future International School) 68 Runs and 4 wickets.

3rd Place Match: Bright Future International School 120-2 beat Stafford Sri Lankan School 92-4 by 28 runs.
