US Allocates Over $8 Billion For Afghanistan, Afghan Migrants

KABUL (Pajhwok): US has allocated over eight billion dollar for Afghanistan and Afghan refugees, according to the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan (SIGAR) report on Friday.

Two billion dollars had been allocated for emergency relief and development, $3.5 for Amani Fund and $2.7 billion for the transfer of Afghan refugees to the US and their rehabilitation expenses.

The source said that the Afghan government was taking advantage from this fund by issuing licenses to relevant financial institutions.

The report said that US support for Afghanistan offered an unwanted legitimacy to the Afghan government created hurdle in the way of restrictions imposed on women's work in Afghanistan.

According to SIGAR over 28 million people in Afghanistan needed food this winter.
