Iran’s petrochemicals shipment amounts to USD18B in one year

(MENAFN) The worth of Iran’s petrochemical shipments has amounted to USD18 billion since the start of the ongoing Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2022), a senior representative with the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) declared.

As shown by NPC's Director of Planning and Development Hassan Abbaszedeh, the Islamic republic shipped USD15 billion value of petrochemical outputs in the prior Iranian year, as reported by IRIB.

By the end of August last year, NPC Managing Director Morteza Shahmirzaei stated that Iran’s yearly shipment of petrochemicals was estimated to amount to USD18 billion in the present Iranian year, whereas in line with Abbaszadeh, this number has been reached in 10 months.

“Some products were not considered in the previous periods and we were faced with their import at the cost of five billion dollars”, he stated, also mentioning that “The products of the propylene chain are of special importance and include 70 percent of the total petrochemical imports. To reduce the dependency, the petrochemical company has focused on the development of value chain projects.”
