Doha: Angers player and Moroccan forward who shone at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Sofiane Boufal would soon be moving to Qatar from France.

The French Ligue 1 club Angers announced that it had reached an agreement-in-principle with Al Rayyan SC of the Qatar Stars League.

The French club announced through an official media statement that it was allowing Boufal to leave Tuesday to Qatar for his medical.

Boufal was part of Morocco's FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 squad which made history as the first Arab and first African nation to ever make it to the competition's semi-finals.

He has thus become the second Moroccan player from the 2022 World Cup squadron to leave Angers, with the other being Azzedine Ounahi, who left for local rivals Marseille during this winter transfer market.
