Emirates launches MENA’s initial test flight ran fully by green fuel


(MENAFN) The UAE’s Emirates airlines has launched its innovation test flight ran entirely by sustainable aviation fuel, as shown by a press release.

The flight is the initial of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa are. It is “a milestone moment for Emirates and a positive step for our industry as we work collectively to address one of our biggest challenges — reducing our carbon footprint,” an announcement recited head Operating Officer of Emirates Adel Al-Redha as stating.

Currently, sustainable aviation fuel is utilized in airplanes but just in share of 50 percent with conventional jet fuels.

Hence, the Emirates flight is going to perform as a reference for possible applies in the upcoming future where 100 percent sustainable aviation fuel is allowed.

Al-Redha continued: “We hope that landmark demonstration flights like this one, will help open the door to scale up the SAF supply chain and make it more available and accessible across geographies, and most importantly, affordable for broader industry adoption in the future.”
