Ukrainian diplomat suggests Berlin should give one of its submarines for Russia’s Black Sea Fleet

(MENAFN) Ukraine’s previous diplomat to Germany, Andrey Melnik, has proposed that Berlin should give one of its submarines for use against Russia’s Black Sea Fleet. During the war in Ukraine, Melnik disparaged and insulted his then-hosts until they agreed to give ever-heavier arms to his nation.

“I know I’m going to get a new s**t storm, but I have another creative idea,” Melnik, who became deputy foreign minister last November, shared on Twitter on Saturday. Clarifying that the ThyssenKrupp-created HDW Class 212A is seen as “one of the world’s best submarines,” the German military (Bundeswehr) should donate one of its six 212As to Ukraine, where it would “kick the Russian fleet out of the Black Sea.”

In a series of replies to comments, Melnik urged his groups to “champion this idea all together and push Germany and other allies” into giving the sub.
