Iran places 3rd globally in amount of beehives


(MENAFN) Iran places third in the world in the amount of apiaries, as said by the chairman of the Animal Science Research Institute of Iran (ASRI).

Mokhtar Mohajer also stated that Iran's placement in honey output is getting lower and moving to fourth as well as sixth place across the globe.

According to the figures lately issued by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Iran is the third-biggest producer of honey globally.

The chairman of the Animal Science Research Institute has stated that the figure of honey output in the nation need to be surged by three to four kilograms a colony.

Mokhtar Mohajer went further on to say that “According to the Seventh National Development Plan (2022-2026), the amount of honey production should be increased by at least three to four kilograms per colony according to the diversity of plants and the area of pastures that we have in the country”.
