(MENAFN- Hip Hop-24) Israel's ambassador to Stockholm, Ziv Nevo Coleman, said on Friday that his country and the local Jewish community prevented the burning of the Torah in front of the Tel Aviv embassy building, in coordination with Swedish officials.
Coleman added, in a tweet, that the burning of the Torah was planned in front of the Israeli embassy in the capital, Stockholm, but it was prevented with the help of the Swedish authorities.
This came in conjunction with the burning, on Friday, of the leader of the Danish far-right "hard line" party, Rasmus Paludan, a copy of the Holy Qur'an again in front of the Turkish embassy in Copenhagen, under police protection, moments after it was burned in front of a mosque.
The Anadolu correspondent said that the police surrounded Al-Wudan and allowed him to burn the Qur’an shortly after he burned another copy in front of a mosque belonging to the Islamic Community Association in the Dorthevig neighborhood of Copenhagen earlier today, which is the third time in a week.
The Danish police took strict security measures in the vicinity of the mosque, closed the street to traffic, and issued warnings to young Muslims who were carrying water and pipes to extinguish fires.
On Thursday, Paludan announced that he would burn copies of the Holy Qur’an in front of a mosque in Denmark and near the Turkish and Russian embassies, and that the relevant authorities allowed him to do so.
Paludan had previously burned a Quran on January 21 near the Turkish embassy in Stockholm, under strict protection from the police, who prevented anyone from approaching him while he was committing this provocative act.
On a large scale, this abuse caused an uproar in the Muslim world, and Turkey considered it a "provocative act" of "hate crimes" and canceled a visit by Swedish Defense Minister Pal Johnson to Ankara.
