According to Reuters, there will be more clashes between India-China as Beijing expands its military presence and infrastructure along the disputed border in Ladakh.

According to a security assessment by the police, reported by Reuters, there may be additional skirmishes between Indian and Chinese soldiers along their disputed border in Ladakh as Beijing expands its military presence there.

The report claimed that the assessment is part of a new, confidential research paper by the Ladakh Police that was submitted at a conference of top police officers held from January 20 to 22.

India and China share a 3,500 km border that has been disputed since the 1950s. The primary issue between the Republic of China and India is the boundary question. The two sides went to war over it in 1962.

Since then, India and China have been constantly engaged in a tug-of-war over territorial boundary issues. Much of the mistrust and misgivings emanated from the legacy of the 1962 war between the two countries.

The military attack of June 15 2020, in Galwan Valley led to bilateral and trilateral negotiations without any resolution.

In September, the Indian and Chinese militaries disengaged from Patrolling Point 15 in the Gogra-Hot springs area. A fresh clash erupted between the two sides in
border nearby Arunachal Pradesh state's border without any deaths.

The report mentioned China's People's Liberation Army (PLA), saying,“Given the domestic pressures... in China and their economic interests in the region, the PLA would continue to build up its military infrastructure and skirmishes would also increase regular which may or may not follow a pattern”.

“If we analyze the pattern of skirmishes and tensions, the intensity has increased since 2013-2014 with an interval of every 2-3 years... With the massive infrastructure built up by PLA on the Chinese side, both the armies are testing each other's reaction, the strength of artillery and infantry mobilization time,” it added.
