Cairo Int'l Book Fair Opens


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Jan 25 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly stated Wednesday that the 54th Cairo International Book Fair reflects Egypt's cultural role in the region and the great contributions it has provided over centuries.
This came in Madbouly's speech inaugurating the 54th edition of the book fair, read a cabinet's statement.
The fair, lasting until February 6, carries the slogan 'The name of Egypt.. together: We read .. We think .. We create.'
It will feature booths of 1,047 publishers from 53 countries around the globe, and around 500 diverse cultural activities as well as a number of interviews and seminars with authors, artists and intellectuals.
The fair's guest of honor this year is Jordan.
Egyptian author Salah Jaheen was selected the fair's personality, whereas Kamel Kilani was named the children's book fair personality.
Participating in the fair from Kuwait is the National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature. (end)
