Amman, Jan. 25 (Petra) - The Senate's Legal Committee on Wednesday approved a a bill amending the Jordanian Nationality Law for 2023, as referred by the Lower House.
The approval came during the committee's meeting, headed by Ahmed Tubaishat, in the presence of the Minister of State for Legal Affairs, Nancy Namrouqa.
The draft aims to facilitate procedures and address loopholes in the current law, based on the new amendments.
As per the bill, Jordanian women married to non-Jordanians would be able to retain their Jordanian nationality.
The draft law's mandating reasons allow Jordanian women married to non-Jordanians, who renounced their Jordanian nationality, to restore their Jordanian nationality without limiting this process to divorce.
