A French journalist on Friday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi might be essential in promoting talks between Russia and Ukraine.

There is a need for someone who can bring Russia and Ukraine to the negotiating table, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi may play a key role, Laura Haim, the French journalist, said.

He continued that now it is challenging because Ukraine is unwilling to engage in negotiations and wants the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to rule on Russian president Vladimir Putin.

On the other hand, she also mentioned that she was surprised to see that people in the US are not talking about the Russia-Ukraine war. Instead, they talk about the election and former president Trump.

However,“The Ukrainians say they do not want to negotiate with Putin and want Crimea back. The Russians are bombing them all the time. We saw it again in the past month... Turkey has a crucial place.”

The US on Thursday announced a new military aid package of USD 2.5 billion for Ukraine to combat Russian aggression, bringing the total amount of US military aid to USD 27.5 billion.

Haim said India and its Prime Minister Narendra Modi have some role to play in the peace process.
