Israeli Troops Shoot, Wound 7 Palestinians


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RAMALLAH, Jan 12 (KUNA) -- Israel's Occupationtroops have shot and wounded seven Palestinians and arrested five others in the ancient sector of Nablus city, Palestinian healthMinistry said Thursday.
The ministry said in a statement they were hit with live bullets, rubber-coated munition and shrapnel -- during the troops' raid in the old sector of the city. A journalists named Nasser Ashtiah was wounded in the thigh and his peer Hassan Qamhia was hit in the foot, while the pair were covering the operation.
Local sources said the Israeli force burst into the city old sector, surrounded a bakery, detained five youngsters, and later pulled out.
The Israeli media said the squad caught the Palestinian activist, Iyad Shbaro, a member of the faction, 'the lions' den,' along with four youth.
The faction is an independent armed Palestinian group operating in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. It emerged in August 2022, following the killing by Israeli forces of Ibrahim al-Nabulsi, a prominent militant from Nablus, nicknamed 'the lion of Nablus.' (end)
