Tourism Industry To Mark Qatar National Day On Grand Scale

The tourism industry is well geared to celebrate Qatar's National Day today on a grand scale as the day coincides with the FIFA World Cup finals which will be the cynosure of all eyes across the sporting and travel world.

Director of Government and Sports Relations Radisson Blu Ali Mohd Battah said Qatari flags will be displayed in front of the hotel as well as in public areas with the highest guest visibility. All female staff members working on December 18 and 19 will be attired with the traditional Qatari dress, Nashl while all male staff members will wear the National Day pin and scarf.

The other events include an Arabic welcome corner with Qatari dates and Qatari coffee served complimentary to all hotel guests, the hotel entrance and lobbies decorated with white and purple flower bouquets, Qatari traditional food such Madroubah, Machboos, Thareed and Luqaimat served to guests at the buffet in Hyde Park Coffee Shop. The Qatari customs and traditions are observed all throughout the hotel and our guests receive the authentic Qatari guest experience, Battah said adding that the FIFA World Cup had brough rich dividends to the hotel.

“Guests rooms are occupied due to FIFA World Cup with an average occupancy rate of 95 percent all throughout the tournament”, Battah said.

M Grand Hotel Managing Director and Finance Controller Kumudu Fonseka said the tourism industry is well prepared and looks forward to celebrate the Qatar National Day which is the most important day of the state on a grand scale as it coincides with the FIFA World Cup finals today.

“The two big events happening on the same day is unique for Qatar as the whole world will come to know about the country and the role it plays in the global stage in promoting peace, prosperity and harmony,” Fonseka said.

The Qatar National Day is celebrated annually on December 18. Prior to the Amiri decree in June 2007, the state's National Day was annually celebrated on September 3, the day of Qatar's independence.

Hotels, resorts and holiday homes will mark the day with special dishes of Qatari cuisine showcasing the country's culinary art and specialties.

The day will also be marked with fire work displays across streets and a host of functions for expatriate workers to enjoy with visitors.

The FIFA 2022 World Cup finals is scheduled to take place today at Lusail Stadium.
