Germany approves Ukrainian attacks inside of Russia

(MENAFN) The German government's spokesperson claimed on Wednesday that Kiev doesn't have to restrict its war effort to Ukrainian soil even though the United States distanced itself from Kiev's drone strike at two air sites hundreds of kilometers inside Russia.

When asked to comment on allegations of explosions at Russian airfields, Steffen Hebestreit informed reporters “Ukraine has a right to self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nation Charter.” Noting that “Ukraine is not obligated to limit defense efforts to its own territory.”

The Russian Defense Ministry said that on Monday morning, drones attacked two strategic bomber sites in the Ryazan and Saratov districts. Three military personnel were lost, several more were hurt, and two airplanes only received minor harm. The planned operation against the military logistics of Ukraine later in the day was not hampered by the incident.

The incident occurred the same day that information emerged that the United Staes had altered HIMARS rocket launchers to prevent Ukraine from using them for longer-range missiles, ostensibly out of concern for an escalation of hostilities with the Kremlin.
