Germany defends Ukrainian invasions in Russia

(MENAFN) Germany on Wednesday defended Ukrainian army assaults inside Russia, stressing Kyiv's right to self-defense.

"Of course, we also took note of the different reports about the destruction of Russian air bases.
For more than nine months, Russia has been at war with Ukraine, and Ukraine has a statutory right to self-defense stemming from Article 51 of the UN Charter and Ukraine is not obliged to limit its defense efforts to its own territory," on the words of German administration spokesman Steffen Hebestreit at a routine weekly press meeting.

Germany has been a loyal supporter to Ukraine in its conflict with Russia, committing €1.20 billion (USD1.16 billion) in military assistance to Ukraine.

The military assistance includes weapons and equipment in addition to economic aid with military aim. In terms of absolute expenditure, Germany ranks before France but behind both the United Kingdom and Poland.
