Serbian World Cup player mocks “absurd” conspiracy idea

(MENAFN) Dusan Vlahovic of Juventus has denied reports that he was a peripheral character during Serbia's FIFA World Cup campaign in Qatar due to an ongoing affair with a teammate's wife.

The 22-year-old, who has nine goals in only 18 appearances for his country in his still-developing international career, was not picked for Serbia's starting lineup in either of their first two Group G games - and didn't even make the bench in Monday's 3-3 draw with Cameroon.

Vlahovic's apparent exclusion from first-team activities has raised a number of questions about why one of Serbia's talismans has been absent for the most of the team's efforts to get out of their group.

According to Serbian media, Vlahovic's extended absence is the result of an affair he reportedly had with the wife of reserve goalie Predrag Rajkovic.
