(MENAFN) Australia on Wednesday advanced for the next round in the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup, which is their first time 16 years (2006).
Australian winger Mathew Leckie managed to get the goal on a fast counter attack in the 60th minute to help the Socceroos reach the knockout phase in Qatar.
Leckie had the ball close to the half of the pitch circle and fooled Danish center backs with his foot abilities. He went fast into Denmark's penalty sector, then struck a shot on the bottom right corner to net the winning goal for his nation.
Australia ended Group D in the second place with six points in three games to advance along with France in the knockout stage.
The current world champions France also have six points but came at top of the group on goal difference.
In the meantime, Tunisia shocked already-advanced France 1-0 in other Group D game to collect four points. Denmark have one to bottom the group.
Denmark and Tunisia have been both knocked out from World Cup 2022.
