Turkish minister: Representatives in Greece are destroying Turkey’s peace initiatives

(MENAFN) Some representatives in Greece are disrupting and damaging Türkiye’s efforts and peace initiatives, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar made a statement on Monday.

"Certain politicians in Greece are unfortunately sabotaging and destroying our work and peace initiatives, sacrificing the rights and interests of the two countries to their own internal conflicts. At the same time, these politicians endanger the safety and welfare of their own people with their actions,” Akar said to a reception celebrating the 39th anniversary of the foundation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

Akar added Greece carries on to “do their best to disrupt the peace and stability” between the two countries.

“We have always said that we are in favor of dialogue, but we will not violate our rights and laws,” he continued, saying his nation will not let any fait accompli for the rights of Türkiye and Turkish Cypriots.

Stressing the dominion, independence, rights and laws of the TRNC and the Turkish Cypriots to achieve permanent peace and steadiness, he noted: "We have all seen that there cannot be a solution unless these are accepted, and the Turkish existence is not respected."
