Dhaka : IndiGo has announced that it will resume its Hyderabad-Dhaka flight from December 8. The carrier has said that the latest move aligns with its aim to reconnect India with international markets post-Covid.

Vinay Malhotra, Global Sales Head at IndiGo, commented, 'This will not only create direct connectivity between these cities but also support the medical tourists travelling from Bangladesh to India. We are committed to providing choices to our customers at affordable fares, with an on-time performance, and a courteous and hassle-free service.'

The thrice weekly flights from Hyderabad to Dhaka will depart at 13.55 and arrive at 16.45. The return flight from Dhaka will depart at 17.45 and land in Hyderabad at 19.55.

The carrier is hoping to capitalise on the demand for medical travel in this sector and cites data given by the Indian Tourism Ministry, which says that Bangladesh accounts for almost 54 per cent of all foreign medical tourists to India.

IndiGo has also been witnessing a strong comeback in business travel and revealed in June that it saw a 100 per cent rebound in corporate travel in the previous months. Airlines had been preparing to bank heavily on leisure passengers in their post-Covid recovery phase. While pent-up travel demand is indeed driving the passenger numbers up, other avenues, such as business and medical travel, too, are opening up.
