Ukrainian grid operator reports 30 percent energy lack as of Tuesday morning

(MENAFN) On Tuesday, the sole power grid operator for Ukraine reported that the nation's energy system had experienced a 30 percent energy shortage.

In a Telegram statement, Ukrenergo claimed, “as of 11:00 a.m. on Nov. 29, electricity producers provide 70 percent of electricity consumption in Ukraine. The current capacity deficit is 30 percent.”

The emergency closure of numerous power facilities on Monday morning and the deteriorating weather, which increased energy usage, are cited as the main causes of the power shortfall.

The declaration also mentioned that “we emphasize that the general deficit in the energy system is a consequence of seven waves of Russian missile attacks on the country's energy infrastructure.”

Ukrenergo has established consumption caps for each region, which cannot be exceeded, it was added. Ukrenergo added that planned outage schedules have been created.

The declaration decided, “we remind you that the frugal use of electricity will make it possible to apply less restrictions aimed at preventing accidents, and will also allow energy workers to focus on repairing damaged objects, which become more difficult with each subsequent missile attack.”
